Coming from Hawaii, this sushi quality tuna has a vibrant red color and can be eaten raw, grilled or sautéed. Our Ahi Tuna is a valuable source of vitamin B12, phosphorous, and potassium. Tuna lends itself to a variety of seafood preparation methods. Small seared pieces can be marinated in a tangy soy, citrus or fruit-based sauce and grilled on the barbeque; seared stovetop with olive oil and garlic; broiled with a simple butter and fresh herb baste; or, served raw, sashimi style just the way they come.

 

Buy ahi tuna from SeafoodHub and try this recipe that requires one pound of sashimi grade tuna, kosher salt to taste, fresh ground black pepper to taste, ½ cup of Italian seasoned bread crumbs, and three tablespoons of organic extra virgin olive oil. With a sharp knife, cut the tuna into four large pieces for appetizer portion or two large pieces for dinner portion. Use your judgment on what shape you want to cut your tuna, although the shape should somewhat resemble a miniature brick. Season the tuna pieces with salt and pepper. Coat the tuna steaks lightly on all sides with bread crumbs. Heat the olive oil in a large heavy skillet over high heat. The pan should be as hot as you can get it. Place the ahi tuna steaks in the pan, and sear on each side for about 45 seconds for small portions, or one minute for large. Remove the tuna steaks from the pan. The tuna should still be somewhat rare. Slice each 'brick' into ¼ inch thick slices, and fan out on a serving plate. Enjoy plain, or with condiments of your choice.
